In This Together is a collective of volunteers who contribute their time and expertise for the greater good. When we’re not feeling under pressure due to some external event it can easy for our volunteers to feel overwhelmed by everything they need to get through. This is even harder in times of crisis.

One of the ways we manage this is by creating and assigning very specific roles. This helps in a number of ways:

  1. We can reduce the size of jobs so that people don’t get overwhelmed
  2. We can reduce the chance of more than one person performing the same task
  3. We can identify exactly which person to communicate with about each issue.
All of this is designed to help us work smarter, reduce stress and enable people to look after themselves at the same time as helping the community.

Volunteer Coordinator

This person organises the volunteer programme. The main tasks are processing registrations and communicating with volunteers.

Control Centre

This person acts as the go-between for volunteers and those in need of assistance. Their role is to receive requests and despatch them to the appropriate volunteer.

Support Advisor

This person organises the provision of information to people in need of help. This includes responding to incoming questions and developing information for the website.

Business Support

This person communicates with the business community, clarifying their trading situation, obtaining updates and identifying volunteer support opportunities.

Group Support

This person acts as a contact point for established community groups, providing a contact point to both identify vulnerable people and attract volunteers.

This person coordinates website development activities, with the support of people within the community who are able to prepare content.
